Chapman Engineering Celebrates 25th Year
by Sam Chapman
Chapman Engineering of Boerne, TX is celebrating 25 years in business. The company offers a variety of services including fuel system leak detection and environmental compliance, cathodic protection, corrosion engineering and corrosion surveys for oil and gas pipelines and utility systems, and other engineering services.
Leak Detection and Environmental Compliance
In 1989, the company filed a patent application for what became Chapman Engineering Fuel Finder®. This is a system that checks underground petroleum storage tank systems for leaks and spills; two other patents have been obtained in this area over time. If leaks are detected, Chapman Engineering provides clean-up and repair. Chapman Engineering also offers natural gas leak surveys and safety patrols for Master-Meter Operator facilities.
Chapman Engineering offers environmental compliance audits for convenience stores, fleet operators, and local and state facilities.
Cathodic Protection and Corrosion Engineering
Since Cal Chapman became the company’s lead engineer in the mid 1990s, Chapman Engineering started work in corrosion control. With the recent oil and gas reformation in Texas, this work area is growing rapidly.
More recently Chapman Engineering began offering pipeline pigging and internal corrosion control/management. Maintenance pigging and chemicals are used to keep pipelines working efficiently. Smart pigging is used periodically to check pipeline integrity. The activity in the Eagle Ford Shale has helped Chapman grow in recent years. From Cal Chapman: “The Eagle Ford development has brought us a lot of business and one result of that has been hiring additional people. We’re about to outgrow our current location in Boerne.” As part of this work, Chapman Engineering takes pride in our commitment regarding safety in the field and keeping up to date with our certifications. Certifications and memberships include NACE International Corrosion Society, ISNETWorld® and Pipeline OQ, PEC SafelandUSA, Veriforce, and several others.
Additional services include environmental assessment and, corrective action, environmental engineering, corrosion anomaly assessments, and ground-water or geologic studies.
